1. Hi! Welcome to my humble blog of all things bookish! I would like for us to start by getting to know you. Give us a short bio, please!

Jennifer Allis Provost writes books about faeries, orcs and elves. Zombies, too. She grew up in the wilds of Western Massachusetts and had read every book in the local library by age twelve. (It was a small library.) An early love of mythology and folklore led to her epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Parthalan, and her day job as a cubicle monkey helped shape her urban fantasy, Copper Girl. When she’s not writing about things that go bump in the night (and sometimes during the day) she’s working on her MFA in Creative Nonfiction.

2. Tell us 5 fun facts people might not know about you!

I have a degree in environmental science, and can talk your ear off about things like invasive species and old growth forests.

I have had MANY types of pets—dogs, cats, parrots, and rabbits, just to name a few. I fear I missed my calling as a zookeeper.

My two favorite things (besides my kids; not that my kids are things, lol) are Star Wars and Elfquest.

Speaking of kids, I have twins!

My middle name is Marie (most think it’s Allis, but that’s just the first half of my last name. Needlessly confusing, I know J ).

3. To get to know you just a little bit better, I’d like to ask you some ā€œThis or Thatā€-questions. Answer 5 of these and explain why you chose this or that, or maybe an entirely different alternative!

Ebooks OR physical books? They’re both great! Ebooks are convenient, and usually less expensive, but there’s nothing like the weight of a physical book in your hands.

Standalone OR series? Series! I love getting lost in a world!

Zombies OR dragons? Dragons

Witches OR vampires? Witches

Shop at an actual bookstore OR shop books online? Um, both? *glances at massive TBR pile*

Hero OR anti-hero? Anti-heroes are a lot more interesting. And sexy šŸ˜‰

4. When you look for books to read, what trope, theme, or type of story will always catch your attention?

Enemies to lovers, followed closely by grumpy/sunshine

5. If you were to describe your writing style using 3 words, what would they be?

Compelling, epic, and passionate

6. So what do you write? Tell us a bit more about your chosen genre, style and ongoing projects/WIPs/series!

Almost all of my work falls under the fantasy umbrella, ranging from epic to urban to paranormal. My first series, The Chronicles of Parthalan, is an epic fantasy with a healthy shot of romance—like Lord of the Rings with less walking and more kissing. The fifth book, Elfsong, will be available in December 2022.

I’ve got three series that fall under urban fantasy: Gallowglass, Copper Legacy, and Poison Garden. Gallowglass takes place in modern day Scotland and New York, and follows a four hundred year old folklorist/assassin and a much younger geologist while they’re on the run from the Seelie Queen. There’s also a spinoff series, Winter’s Queen, which follows the geologist’s brother and the brand new queen of winter. Both of those series are complete

The Copper Legacy takes place in a world where magic is outlawed, even though the government throws spells around like cheap confetti. Our main character, Sara, is a copper Elemental who’s had to hide her true nature almost her entire life, unless she wants to be ā€œremovedā€ the way her father and brother were. Then she happens to meet a silver elf called Micah—in a dream, of all places—and they decide to overthrow their oppressors and put things right. The fourth and final book, Copper Princess, releases in September 2022.

Poison Garden is my newest series, and it’s best described as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Little Shop of Horrors. Eliza ā€œEliā€ Moore is the scion of a family of powerful seers, but she wants to leave the supernatural life behind. Unfortunatey for Eli, supernatural problems keeping finding her. Luckily she has friendly and handsome detective, Dan, to help her out. Books 1 and 2 are out now, and book 3 will be available in early 2023.

I’ve also got a contemporary romance series out there, Changes, but it’s currently out of print. I need to carve out some time and get those books back into the world.

7. What is your most recent release? Give us a short presentation, cover, and a link for where to buy it!

My most recent release is Copper Princess, the final instalment of the Copper Legacy. Grab a copy here https://books2read.com/CopperPrincess and check out the blurb below:

The epic fourth book in Jennifer Allis Provost’s dystopian urban fantasy series, Copper Legacy.

Sara never thought her life would be like this.

For starters, she never dared hope her family would be whole again. After they rescued her father—the real one, this time—the Corbeaus settled into life at Silverstrand Manor. Sara should be able to relax and enjoy her life with her elf husband, Micah. But, things aren’t as peaceful as they seem.

In the Otherworld, the Gold Queen still wants Sadie’s pledge, and is prepared to go to extreme lengths to obtain it. Sara vows to protect her sister by any means necessary, even if it means dethroning the current queen.

In the Mundane world, where Elementals are treated as little more than animals, the magic war still rages against the Peacekeepers. Led by Mike Armstrong, the Peacekeepers seek to harness Elemental abilities for their own gain—oh, and Sara’s best friend, Juliana, just so happens to be Mike’s niece. Juliana also had a fling with Sara’s brother, Max, while he was a prisoner. That’s not complicated.

Meanwhile, Max struggles to reclaim his life after spending the last decade imprisoned in a Peacekeeper research facility. He just wants to find his place in the world, and figure out if he still has a place in Juliana’s life—not that she seems to want him hanging around. Max throws himself into helping the resistance, but he can’t help being drawn into Juliana’s orbit. Then, thanks to Juliana’s insider information about the Peacekeepers, they find information to finally turn the tide to the Elemental’s favor.

Then Sadie does the unthinkable, and Sara and Max must draw on all of their strength to preserve what’s left of their family, stop the Peacekeepers, and save the entire Otherworld. No big deal, right?
