1. Hi! Welcome to my humble blog of all things bookish! I would like for us to start by getting to know you. Give us a short bio, please!

Rishikesh Upadhyay, also known as R K Upadhyay, is a multi-award winning Indian author, research writer and Assistant Professor. Dr. Upadhyay loves learning and teaching to expand my horizons and ideas. He believes in and writes about plants and their environment.  Much of his work is confined to teaching and researching Plant Stress Biology and Biochemistry. Currently, he’s  now teaching Plant Environmental Physiology  and  Plant Biochemistry at  Haflong Government college  affiliated  to  Assam  University,  Silchar, India.

2. When you look for books to read, what trope or type of story will always catch your attention?

They vary over time. I read about equal amounts of fiction and non-fiction, though non-fiction most and my tastes alter. Any books related to plants and their environments, sometimes I read philosophy also. And the best stories have something to say. That’s important to me.

3. What do you write? Tell us about your current projects and the latest happenings!

I write Non-fiction, there are now four books in the same genera of non-fiction, plant, environment and nature. The Life of Plants in a Changing Environment, The Secret of Plants in the Environment, Plant Stress Physiology and Plant Heavy Metal Stress, all are now available in paperback and hardback editions from all the leading online book stores worldwide.

The Secret of Plants in the Environment addresses environmental concerns such as the different types of stress situations and plant adaptation to changing environments, including the positive and negative effects of stress on the growth of crops, the beginning stages of plant life cycles, and plant output. This book seeks to discuss the impact of environmental changes or stress on plant life, environmental stress physiology, and adaptation mechanisms. It highlights the impact of environmental stresses on plants and crops under changing environments and gives a comprehensive overview of how plants respond to such environments. It also dwells on some important aspects of environmental change or stress as the main issue affecting the survival of plants at the early stages of their life cycle.

I am working on my next book, possibly it will come soon. It’s very different, but almost like with my fourth book on subject matters.

4. What is your most recent release? Give us a short presentation, cover, and a link for where to buy it!

My latest and fourth book, just released in 1st January, 2022, is – The Life of Plants in a Changing Environment.  Plants experience stress due to environmental changes, either in biotic or abiotic form, during their life cycle. Non-heritable modifications in morphological, physiological or biochemical characteristics tend to reduce or decrease growth and productivity, and sometimes lead to death. The book is all about the life of plants and their adaptation to different environments. The book presents an exhaustive overview of the specific effects and modifications that could occur in this regards, and will serve to consolidate the ideas to promote standardization of plant adaptation to these changes in the environment. This book returns to the facts of both biotic and abiotic stress, detailing an essential aspect of plant life in the context of stress response. The text is a comprehensive, current reference that effectively addresses issues and concerns related to plant stress in natural environments. The book is, rather, a comprehensive review of all aspects of the responses of plants to changes in the environment.

5. What is your writing routine? If you have one, give us the run-down!

As you know it’s very hard to get yourself or anyone back in that zone of thinking about the imaginative world or idea that’s in your mind. During the day, I work at a local government college, and by night I pour my imagination and ideas out onto a page. I believe in and write about plants and their environment.

6. If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice as you started out on the path to becoming an author, what would it be?

Be ready for a lot of rejection. Don’t worry; never give up. But, think before you start writing anything!
