Snippet from The Power of Conviction (The Light of Darkness, book 1)
“Damn you!” Anaya charged him, her hands flashing with Light.
Remaining still, Samael simply grabbed her arms and pulled her close. Lifting her off the ground, he held her tightly as to not allow her to discharge her powers. “I have said this before; do not make me defend myself. You are no match for me.”
“Let me go!” Looking up at him, Anaya snarled and aimed to spit in his face, but he angled away.
Being released, Anaya quickly retreated as she dropped to the ground. Stumbling backwards, she fell, landing on her behind. “You are such scum, Samael! You are only proof of what we already know, that you demons only feel hate and wish for destruction. You gloat in others misery. You are lowly creatures of Darkness, only wanting to extinguish the Light of the Goddess and us humans!”
Watching her stand and dust off her robes, a full grin bloomed on his face. “Are you trying to convince me, or yourself? Because if you ask me, then you suddenly do not sound as sure as you usually do.”
“I said, stop talking as if you know me!”
Thunder rolled in the distance. The skies opened up, and rain started pouring down.
“I hate you!” She turned and hurried down the path.
