1. Hi! Welcome to my humble blog of all things bookish! I would like for us to start by getting to know you. Give us a short bio, please!
My name is Billie Jade Kermack and I’m from the UK. I am a makeup and sfx artist for tv and film and an author.

2. To get to know you just a little bit better, I’d like to ask you some this or that questions. Answer 5 of these and explain why you chose this or that, or maybe an entirely different alternative!
Summer – preferably lying on a sun lounger with a pint.
Dog – We have a crazy Boston Terrier named Gus.
Anything other than these two – only ever drink tea when my husband is up for making it he has serious tea making skills.
Library – Getting lost in a good book will forever be my favourite thing to do.
Hunter – go big or go home.
Witches – got to love a badass
Pirates – the sea, tomfoolery and treasure – sold. I als reckon I’d be great with a sword.
Beaches – I’m not a trekker type of person, I am a beach, book and relax sort of girl.
Plotter – I love a good list!
Pen and paper – I have hundreds of notebooks filled with ideas, some of them will see the light of day, some of them wont.
Series – but only when all the books are released, I am very impatient when it comes to knowing how things end up, I cant even watch a tv series until all episodes are released.
Audiobook – for general day to day I love an audiobook because I can still get on with other stuff. A book at night, in the bath or on holiday and an ebook only if it isn’t available anywhere else.
Anti -hero – As a writer I think creating a compelling character is more fun when you have a darkness or a twisted history to play with.
3. When you look for books to read, what trope or type of story will always catch your attention?
At the moment I am reading a lot of contemporary romances as the next series of books I am writing is this genre. I tend to go through bouts of interest, I will have a month of enjoying true crime, then move to comedy the next to change it up.

4. What do you write? Tell us about your current projects and the latest happenings!
I am due to release the third instalment in my Dark PNR book series this Halloween, the first two in the series are AWOKEN and ASCEND. I also have four contemporary romance stand alone novels that fight on a daily basis for my attention and I am trying to teach myself scriptwriting.
5. What is your most recent release? Give us a short presentation, cover, and a link for where to buy it!
My latest release is ASCEND book two in the Shadowed Veil Series, it is available on ebook, paperback and Audible.
SHORT BLURB
Awoken is a dark modern-day love story that’s more Grimm than Disney; if singing mice and dancing crabs are what you were looking for, this is not the book for you. Seances, time travel, and torture, however – if that’s your thing, you just might fit right in.
Grace didn’t believe in ghosts or demons, she thought magic was something that only lived in the pages of fairy tales.
Hidden away most of his life, Beau had successfully managed to mask his gift from the world. Having the ability to commune with the dead wasn’t exactly the best conversation starter, and that was okay, he didn’t much like people anyway, until he walked back into Gallows Wood and into Grace’s life.
Struggling with the incessant onslaught of nightmares about her father’s untimely death, Grace had accepted that maybe she just wasn’t destined for a happily ever after. Plagued by the spirit of a sadistic serial killer long dead, Grace must harness what power she can to defeat him and stay alive. Awakening family secrets that Grace could never have imagined to be true begs the question: Had she been surrounded by magic longer than she had thought?
How far into a world plagued by evil would you go to save the soul of the one you love?

6. What real-life inspiration do you draw from, and what are your primary fictional sources of inspiration (books, authors, films, music, etc.)? Name a few!
I love music; my spotify playlist an eclectic mix of various genres of music. I can’t write without music, T-rex and David Bowie are currently assisting my writing session. My protagonist was formed as a way for me to make sense of my own loss, writing a book series that dabbles with ghosts and entities helped me to heal. I am also a horror film buff and working as a SFX artist means that I can use my creations to visualise the ghosts in my stories.
7. What is your writing routine? If you have one, give us the run-down!
I wish I had a routine, with a job, a house and three kids I write when I can, I tend to get lost in my writing and find it hard to stop when I start so late evening is usually best for me.
8. If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice as you started out on the path to becoming an author, what would it be?
It’s okay to ask for help, it can be a very lonely existence as an author so getting in touch with other authors helps, there is so much good advice out there you just have to put in the effort to find it. I recently started a blog for authors to offer up free advice, tips and tricks so I can pay it forward and help others in what ever stage of writing they are.
